3 Acne Prevention Beauty Tips From An Indian Kitchen

I don't know about you but I have gone through a phase of hormonal changes & acnes. Oily skin & dirt made it worse and I had not an iota of a clue how to handle it. My mom, friends and wise aunts all had suggestion based of their experiences. Most of them were good, but the ones I thought was critical were:

1. Don't touch your face
2. Dont deprive your face of moisture, just clean it and apply a light moisturizer. Find the right moisturizer but do it.
3. But then, don't overdo it. Please do not wash your face 5 times a day and expect the acne to wash off. 2 or may be 3 times is more than enough!

Apart from all these basic guidelines I did try some home-remedies right out of my mum's kitchen, and I have to admit that I still use them and kind of...swear by them!

Turmeric - Face Pack

Ingredients: 1tsp Honey+1tbsp Yoghurt+1/4tsp Turmeric

If you think your face will turn yellow, then thats not true. Though I would say, just to be safe do it on a sunday. If you are too pale complexioned, it might leave an yellowish tinge for about an hour. but in the end it would give your face some glow.

Why is it good? Because Turmeric is an antiseptic known in ayurveda for a long time. Honey is a pore cleanser, and acne eraser. Yoghurt too is great for treating acne and it moisturizes the skin without making it oily

Cinnamon & Nutmeg - Scrub

Ingredients : 1tsp Honey+1tsp cinnamon+1/2tsp nutmeg+1tbsp coconut oil+1tbsp sugar

This is an awesome scrub. Smells a bit festive and cleans up great. I still use it and see my white heads, which are basically the over-produced oil deposited in the pores absolutely disappeared. It cleans up really well.

Why is it good? Cinnamon is an excellent antiseptic whereas Nutmeg is great for clearing spots. They both are known to be excellent ingredients for acne treatment.

Ginger - Extract

Ingredients : 1" Ginger - Grated

Just take the pulp and loosely rub it on your face. Let the juices dry and then you can wash it off.

Why is it good? Being a powerful antiseptic and cleansing agent, Ginger helps in keeping the skin clean, smooth and free of blemishes. Besides, it also invigorates and stimulates your skin. It is also the best natural acne-fighting weapon as it minimizes the rate of acne formation and eruption by killing and clearing the acne-causing bacteria.
